This blog was supposed to be about my running life, starting with training for my first marathon. I run religiously and have for the past 8 years.
However, I started this blog shortly after I was injured in a half-marathon. I thought the injury would heal quickly, but 6 months later, I’m still not running.
So, in reality, this blog has been about my physical therapy, my cross training (biking and swimming), my thoughts about dabbling in triathlon (at least as a training philosophy), incorporating strength training, etc. I guess it’s just an exercise blog.
Hopefully some day soon I’ll be able to write about running more than a couple miles at a time.
Good luck on the injury
I am currently injured and my running life no longer exists
Hi,
I have SI joint issues as well, I guess my joint is hypermobile. I’ve been to a chiropractor, accupunture, 2 physical therapists, and an orthopedic sports specialist and haven’t had much relief for almost 2 years now that this has been going on. I have been searching the web in hopes of finding interventions that have worked for others and came across your blog, so I’m wondering how your SI pain is doing these days and if you have found anything to be helpful recently. My problem sounds alot like yours, the physical therapist does manual manipulation, I do all the strengthening exercises, and my SI joint come out of line within about 10 days, continuously since I have been getting the manipulation (1 year now). It’s very painful and hurts 24/7, very depressing to have this chronic pain begin in my mid 30s. I run, not to the extent that you do, and am having a really hard time not being able to. I’m not sure that the pain gets much better not running. Are there any types of exercises that you have found to be OK? I’ve been thinking of giving swimming a try, although I’m not much of a fan of this, I like just walking out my door with my dog and getting both our exercises in for the day. If you have some time I’d love to hear how your SI problem is.
Thanks,
Kimberly
