Yesterday I ran without my proprioceptive SI belt. My SI joint and tail bone still looked good when I went to the PT last Friday, and she suggested that, instead of increasing the amount of time I’m running this week, I should try running the same amount of time but without wearing my SI belt. So I did.
It went really well. I didn’t have any pain during or after running. I still don’t feel totally normal on that side, so perhaps a more accurate description is that I didn’t feel any different running without the belt. Which is good.
It was also very wonderful to not look like I have a muffin-top in my running tights!
I also bought new shoes last week and wore them running on Monday. They’re the same model I’ve been wearing: Mizuno Wave Inspire. So there’s no big change there. I wasn’t sure if I would need a shoe with more support because, when I initially bought this shoe, it was with the intent that I would wear Superfeet in them. But a few months in, I didn’t like the Superfeet anymore and took them out.
The guy at the running store watched me run in the Mizunos and said that it looked great – no over or under pronation. Don’t fix it if it’s not broken!
